The Shadow Academy, situated in an ancient complex on the Emperor's Hammer homeworld of Aurora Prime, serves as the hallowed halls of learning for the Dark Brotherhood - an institution devoted to furthering the knowledge and understanding of the Dark Side of the Force; to master the dark arts in the guise of power, hate and destruction.

The Academy offers many courses of instruction and scholarly pursuits; some for newly inducted Apprentices, others for more learned members of the Brotherhood.

Members of the Erudite Roll act as teachers and guides to the three types of course available at the Academy:

Apprentice Studies: the rudementary and yet fundamental Apprentice Studies are for newly inducted members of the Dark Brotherhood. The two Phases cover semantic and practical knowledge - exposing new members to the Brotherhood and imparting a basic understanding of our organisation.

General Studies: a range of courses developed for all members of the Brotherhood, regardless of standing or Order. General Studies are courses that hold relevance to all members of the Brotherhood.

Order Studies: a distinct variety of studies intended to confer knowledge or skills pertaining to the traditional skill and history of one of the Orders (Sith, Krath or Obelisk). Order Studies can be undertaken by any member of the Brotherhood, but are designed to bestow knowledge of individual Orders - operational platforms (X-Wing: Alliance and Jedi Knight II etc.), historical knowledge and specialised skills (writing, the creation of missions etc.).
